Silverado Leveling Kit Problems and Solutions:

Silverado Leveling Kit Problems

Warranty

If you have bought a new Silverado and the warranty is still valid, now if you install a leveling kit on your Silverado, your truck’s warranty will not value anymore. So after buying a new Silverado, you should wait until the warranty period is over and then install a leveling kit if you want. Once the warranty period is over, you have nothing to worry about.

This method is not only for a Silverado. You should know that most manufacturers will discard your car’s warranty if you make any change to the car. You will find more information regarding the warranty in the user manual of your car.

But some manufacturers will not discard your car’s warranty if you install a leveling kit that does not require any cutting and welding and if the car remains unscratched.

Your warranty might not be discarded if you install a leveling kit like that. But we recommend you to read the terms and conditions of the warranty carefully before you start to do anything with your car or truck.

Issues with Shocks

If you are planning to install a leveling kit on the front end of your car, you might also need to change the shocks because built-in shocks will not be able to work if you increase the space by adding some more height.

There is a chance of breaking the shocks if you do not change them. You will be able to stop the breaking of shocks if you remove the built-in shocks and install the larger ones.

This is very disappointing that replaced parts will not work as great as original built-in products so that you will notice the fall in the performance of the shocks, and you will also notice that the ride is not as fun as before.

If you do not want to face any of these problems, but you need to lift your Silverado, we recommend you not lift it much. You will not face Stock issues if the adjusted height is not that much than before. And in that circumstance, you do not need to install aftermarket shocks.

Reduced Gas Mileage

If you install a leveling kit in your Silverado, it will greatly affect your truck’s fuel economy. You will have reduced gas mileage. After installing a leveling kit in your Silverado, the height of your car will be increased, and it will face more wind while on the road. So it will need more power to work against the drag of the air. This is not a matter with the only Silverado, and you will face this problem in all types of vehicles.

Cars that are made to provide higher speed and better mileage generally come with lower ground clearance. So that these cars can resist more air drag, so if you are planning to increase the height of your car, you should remember that it will reduce the gas mileage of your car.

Issues with Tie Rods

If you are planning to install a leveling kit on your car, you might need to change the tie rods’ angle as the shocks. If you are not going to go on off-roading or if you do not want to install larger Beadlock wheels, then you might not face any problem. But if you are planning to drive off-road regularly or install a larger wheel, you will need to change the tie rod while installing the leveling kit. Otherwise, you will end up having a broken or bent tie rod, and as a result, you will face several problems while driving the car.

So if you do not want to face any problem, then you will need to change the tie rod.

Problems with Suspension System

Silverado trucks come with a suspension system that is suitable for the actual specification the car comes with. So if you make any change in the hardware of the truck, the shape or geometry of the truck will be changed. As a result, the suspension system will not work the way it was supposed to do. So driving the car will not be as enjoyable as before.

Sometimes your mechanic may suggest some changes in the suspension system so that you do not face the problems but remember the changes might work, but it will not reduce the problem fully. So if you truly want to avoid this problem, you have to evaluate the suspension geometry carefully. And you will need to make sure that you are hiring a well-experienced mechanic to get the job done. Sometimes amateur mechanics also face problems while installing a leveling kit. So you should always hire a professional mechanic.

Increasing Need for Maintenance

If you add anything aftermarket to your car that is not a part of its normal mechanism, you might need to change the stock mechanism. We have mentioned above that if you install a leveling kit in your car, you will also need to change shocks, tile rods, and suspension geometry.

But it would be best if you also remembered that aftermarket components would not give you the same output as the factory-made ones. So you might face many problems, and you will need to take it for maintenance. So the need for maintenance will increase according to the amount of height you are going to increase.

Improper Installation

You will need to install the leveling kit very carefully. Though it is not a hard task, we recommend you take the help of a professional mechanic to do nothing wrong. However, if you install the leveling kit in the wrong way, you will face some serious problems while driving. But if you take the help of an expert, even if they face any problem while installing, they will, however, handle it.

You should remember that if you are using a high-quality kit but the installation quality is not that good, then it could damage your car. So you should go to a professional mechanic to install the leveling kit in your car. If you do not do that to the same a little amount of money, maybe you will spend more to repair your damages.

Conclusion

If you are planning to increase the height of your Silverado, you will need to install a leveling kit. For this, you should know about the possible problems that you might face while installing a leveling kit in your Silverado. If you have an idea about these problems, then you will be able to solve them quickly. It will also help you to handle any problem that you will face after the installation.
